Luke is 2 years and 3 months and every bit as naughty as he was since last posting in February. He is doing lots of talking, sometimes it gets him into trouble. Also, he is sporting a shorter haircut to provide relief from the heat and he looks great! He is also doing a lot of swimming with his new tube. His big brother Austin is also looking trendy with his new mohawk haircut (compliments of his every professional hair stylist, Dad!). Austin and big sister Emmy are swimming like little sharks at our pool and each is showing some great potential for future swim team activity. So, far, we are all having a great summer, having traveled to the capital for a tour of Ford's Theatre, Arlington National Cemetery, and Madame Tousoud's Wax Museum. We also traveled to Dutch Wonderland in Pennsylvania and drove to the beach for a day long trip there. We are looking forward to a great August, possibly going for another day trip and plan to do a week long trip to Ocean City in late September. 22 Months Old

Luke is 22 months old and very naughty! He is growing nicely and gets along great with his big brother and sister. He loves Thomas the Tank Engine, Elmo and Barney and likes to Dora too. He just got a really short haircut and what a dramatic difference that is from before. He was a maniac during the haircut and required Daddy to hold him while getting his haircut. All was well afterward as we then went on to Kohls and explored the toy section which he loved! Here are a few pictures of Luke, present and over the past 8 months too.

Luke esta caminando en todas partes! Actualmente, el ha aprendiendo para casi dos o tres semanas pero ahora, el camina mas que el arrastra. El parece muy contento con su habilidad pero nosotros estamos afligiendo para su mobilidad. Sin embargo, estamos muy orgulloso!

Today is Luke's 1 Year Birthday! 1 Year ago today, at 6:31am, our little Luke joined us and we've enjoyed having him! The weather today is overcast and Luke awoke this morning like a bear but he has settled down for his coffee (cup only, no coffee!) and Madeleines and a nice birthday balloon with Winnie the Pooh on it. Patty Cake et al

Luke's become a big fan of patty cake as you'll see in the video. Luke is also very curious, I would say impressed also by his own little hands. Those little chubby hands seem to be a real fascination to him as he observes them regularly and wonders what they might be. I'm sure none of us have as much of an appreciation for our hands!

Young Luke is smiling, crawling, standing, and overall being naughty! He's a nice little boy who is having a great time with his big brother and big sister. Austin Jr. and Luke have a great crawling races around the family room. Emily is also a great play friend when both are in the fenced in area with all of those talking toys. Luke is also intrigued by the large, yellow beast we call Sunny who is roaming the house. Sunny is only too happy when Luke drops his Cheerios and puff crackers to the floor for him to conveniently and quickly lick up! Here are some more recent pictures of him as he approaches 10 months.

Wow - 8 months already! Luke continues to do great, eating us out of house and home, growing at an alarming rate, and charming us with his amazing smiles, morning, noon and night. His crawling is gaining pace and containing his movement is starting to be a challenge. Unlike his big brother and sister, he is more curious about how things taste so the little things need to be put away. As you'll see, he loves to smile and having his picture taken!

After two feet of snowfall, Luke decided he was up for some fun. He wanted to go sledding in our driveway!

Its been a while since the last post but that doesn't stop Luke from growing as you can probably tell from the pictures! Luke just hit the half year mark and is beginning to investigate such acts as climbing out of his pack and play, rolling over and over and over..., crawling too!

He's also been introduced to Halloween and all the fun associated with that. Here he is with his best friends on that spooky night this past weekend!

Always ready with a quick, warm smile, he is a delightful little baby who is easy going and loves playing with his big brother Austin and big sister Emily. A few pictures follow of Luke over the past few weeks/months.

Here are some pictures of my little ball of joy. He's really strong now and long (27 inches). He's about 16 lbs. so he's quite solid. He is overall a delightful baby with a beautiful smile to greet me in the morning and, not surprisingly, very ticklish! We've taken several trips this summer: our first trip to the beach over the last weekend in August was really fun, Mt. Vernon and Luray Caverns as well. Hopefully, we can make him an international traveler over the next year or so (Espana anyone?).

Little Luke Devereux is growing like crazy! He's eating well and sleeping well, sleeping through most of the night. He's smiling a lot and is really responsive to us, which is a great thing of course! Here are a few videos taken within the last few weeks.

Old Man at 2 Weeks Old!

Two weeks old and doing fine. Luke seems to be doing well. Mom and Dad are switching off with the feeding duty which comes every 4 hours or so. Between the 11:30 feeding and 7:30 feeding, he usually stirs for a mid morning snack. Not too bad considering the first night he was up on the hour between 11:30pm and 3:30am. Since then, he's been on the 4 hour schedule.

Thanks to all for the fine dinners, visits and nice gifts over the past couple weeks. It really means a lot to us and we really appreciate the love and support! Here are some pics...

A Star is Born!

Well, patience really IS a virtue! Baby Luke Juan Jose Devereux was born today, April 21, 2009, at 6:31 am, weighing in at 8lbs 14oz, length 21 inches. We were notified by his royal highness with a particular gushing event that his arrival was imminent. Strong labor pains ensued followed by new speed records getting to the hospital. (Well, we weren't going that fast but it felt like it because no other cars could keep up with us. Hmmm, there were no other cars so, anyway, I digress...we got there in speedy fashion.) Epidural was administered and after a few hours, the doctor said it is time to push. After only 15 or so minutes, a Devereux family record I think, Little Luke appeared and what a moment that was! Most importantly, Luke and Mommy are doing very well and we are so very happy to have him join our family!

Well, we're waiting!!!

Luke, just because you think you are the jedi in the family doesn't give you the right to keep us waiting! Don't think you are so cool - light sabers don't exist and the "force" is all in your head. Search your feelings - its time to get out here! We are anxiously waiting for you and you are making us mad. Just because you are comfortable in there doesn't mean you should stay in there forever. We have all kinds of toys, delicious food, and great TV shows such as Sesame Street, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Thomas the Tank Engine! You are really missing out! So, change your mind and come out! It will be a lot of fun!

False Alarm

Well, I know others have been through this before but it is cruel no less. We had a false alarm yesterday having spent the day at the hospital believing that the Ofelia was in labor. While she had contractions over the previous 24-48 hours, her back pains were excruciating and rendered her immobile during that time. Believing that she could be induced, we went to the doctor who said she hadn't dialated enough. He said we could go to the hospital or go home with some pain medication for the back. We went to the hospital and while it looked promising at times, it wasn't meant to be. So, we are back home, waiting anxiously (and painfully) again for the baby's next move. Whatever happens this week, we have a scheduled inducement next Friday so it won't be too much longer either way.

Doctor's visit reveals baby is 8 lbs. 4 oz with 3D sonogram performed. This turkey is cooked! Mommy sees the light at the end of the tunnel and sees little Luke's face for the first time and thinks he looks just like big brother Austin! (Check out the sonogram picture here.) Kids are excited as they are standing guard at baby's new crib.

The Long Wait

We are expecting the arrival of our new baby, a boy named Luke, on May 1st. On this blog, I hope to add some pictures, video and thoughts of this upcoming event and afterward to share with everyone. We have an anxious group waiting for his arrival, which includes a brother named Austin, a sister named Emily, a father (me!), and of course Mommy! And, of course, there is big K9 brother Sunny who is not sure what's going on! The baby's room is pretty much finished, we have diapers, wipes, strollers, a car seat, pack 'n plays, clothes of all kinds, baba's, pacy's, bathing supplies, blankets, camera's to capture the moments, a new blog to communicate stuff - now we just need a baby! While I'm happy he isn't exhibiting Daddy's habit for tardiness, I am anxious to meet him as are everyone else here. I know the date of his arrival will be an amazing experience that will be etched in my mind just like the days his big brother and sister were born. I know the long wait will finally be over when I can pick him up, look into his eyes and say "Luke, I am your father!"
